Job Description:

The Van Driver provides transportation for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) youth and staff in a 12 passenger BGCSF van. This person will also provide program and administrative support for the Club as needed. This position is Part Time.

 

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

 

Transporting Club Members - 50%

  • Transport youth members in Club vehicles as needed
  • Supervise youth during transport and assist youth on and off the van as needed
  • Conduct safety inspections of van prior to and after operations including maintaining fluid levels, tire pressure, fuel and washing
  • Maintains scheduling and passenger records

 

Program Support- 30%

  • Support special events at Clubhouses
  • Participate in weekly team meetings
  • Run organized youth activities with members ages 6-18 such as group games and sports
  • Positive disciplinarian - enforce Club rules to all members at all times
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco
  • Any other duties the supervisor might deem necessary for the best interest of the overall organization

 

Administrative Support - 20%

  • Performing administrative duties such as ordering uniforms, keeping club calendars, typing minutes, inputting information into a database, and internet research

 

Experience and Skills:

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:

  • Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement
  • DMV driving record must not have more than one (1) point for either a moving violation or accident
  • High school diploma and at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to follow traffic directions and rules
  • Demonstrate impeccable safety awareness and judgment
  • Read and understand City maps
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work
  • Experience working with youth ages 6-18 years old in a youth development setting
  • The ability to create strong relationships with youth in a short period of time
  • Strong positive disciplinary skills with youth
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to create and follow systems and procedures
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (within 90 days of employment)

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 1 hour
