Job Description:

This Accounting Generalist position is responsible for processing various key accounting functions. This person collaborates with the Finance staff to support and achieve the goals of the Finance team and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. The Accounting Generalist meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and actively participating in meetings. The position is temporary and will be a Part-Time or Full-Time schedule.


  • Generate ad hoc reports for cost center managers, various departments and VP of Finance as needed
  • Generate, analyze for variances, and distribute monthly cost center financial packets
  • Process weekly cash receipts into accounting system
  • Use electronic check deposit machine to transmit checks to bank weekly
  • Assist in processing government grant invoicing and cash receipts
  • Utilize Excel grant tracking spreadsheets
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts
  • Assist Accounts Payable Manager as needed
  • Assist in supplies purchasing
  • File all supporting paper and electronic documentation timely
  • Assist in manipulating and uploading Concur AP data into accounting system via extract file

Experience and Skills:


  • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • Accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Works well and quickly under pressure in a demanding and fast paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and outstanding organization/planning skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at one time, not easily distracted, and able to see tasks to completion
  • Excellent judgment (recognizes critical problems and/or anticipates potential problems)
  • Understanding of what comprises confidential issues and material, acting with discretion
  • Knowledge of Concur preferred


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of related education and work experience, with a focus in accounting and/or finance
  • Strong grasp of basic mathematical functions
  • Excellent computer proficiency with Excel and intermediate skills in MS Suite
  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written


  • Must be able to stand for at least 1 hour
  • Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long time period of time
